WebNES – NES Emulator in Your Browser

Play classic NES games directly in your browser with WebNES, a fast, smooth, and fully playable NES emulator — all in a single HTML file!

This is the first (probably) vibe-coded NES emulator released to Itch.io.

  • Offline audio starts immediately when a ROM is loaded.

  • Safe reset works without errors.

  • Opposite buttons logic for Left/Right and Up/Down.

  • Controller overlay highlights button presses.

  • Top and bottom UI with ROM insertion, save/load states, recent ROMs, FPS, CPU, ROM size, volume, and opposite button toggle.

  • Save states and played ROMs stored using IndexedDB and LocalStorage.

  • Canvas positioned correctly below the top menu.

  • Fully offline operation; no external dependencies after load.
